To become an Assistant Pro Guide in the ACA you must pass the Assistant Pro assessment. Your skills, training, etc can be from any place or any classes you have taken. Bottom line is you need to pass the ACA assessment. It is a comprehensive assessment of the ACA skills checklists 1-5 (Core, Aspirant, CL1, CL2, Assistant Pro Guide) with a written test and a 1 day in-canyon assessment.
TAKE NOTE! – the skill checklists have been updated so make sure you have the current one which is located here: ACA Checklists (https://www.canyoneering.net/resources/)
THIS IS NOT A WORKSHOP, meaning you should have a good understanding and know how to apply your guiding skills already. You have some time to prepare and if you have questions or need clarification, please contact the assessment host. There will be a written exam in addition to assessing your skills.
The cost for the Assistant Pro Guide assessment is $950.
