SUMMARY:COURSE / ACA Technical Level 1
DESCRIPTION:This two day course will be held at the ACA Headquarters in Escalante Utah. Here\, we are fortunate to select from dozens of technically rated slot canyons\, from which we provide our “in canyon” training. Students time is spent applying newly learned skills directly in a dynamic slot canyon environment. Participants in these courses should be prepared for two full days of learning\, teamwork and fun….. in a beautiful setting. \nGoal: The primary objectives of our “Technical 1” is to help students become an “experienced participant”. We want to empower them with the skills to expand their potential canyon options and to increase their role in canyon obstacle assessment and in the implementation of canyoneering strategies. An “experienced participant” is capable of applying the more complex tasks and providing “workable feedback” to group Leaders. The improvements in personal and overall group safety are worth the time/investment and it elevates peoples experience significantly. This course WILL NOT prepare you to lead an advanced level canyon such as Imlay Cyn\, Choprock Cyn\, etc. Period. However\, it WILL empower you with the skills and mindset to see and experience EVEN MORE of the World’s most stunning scenery! Maybe even Imlay….just don’t lead \nACA Philosophy: Take this serious\, in all training\, in all canyons: Think Yoga….. not American Ninja Warrior. We must relax and raise personal and situational awareness. The best canyoneers\, that do the “biggest canyons”\, understand and apply super low impact techniques. Low impact on the environment and low impact on themselves. Keeping heart rates and respirations to a minimum\, avoiding over exertion or unnecessary stress is definitely best. “Aggressive” movements (straining) are much less safe\, less efficient and can impact the environment negatively. The greatest canyoneers go slowly\, work well together\, are kind to the environment…..all while making a series of excellent choices…….easy money! \nTopics Covered in “Technical 1” Course: \nThis course will include most items found on the ACA Aspirant Skills list. The Class C water related skills will be offered in a separate\, Class C specific course. \nhttps://canyoneering.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Aspirant-Skills-Checklist-4-22-20.pdf \nFEE: $295 Per Person. Includes an ACA Certified Instructor\, coffee/tea in the morning & ice cream in the afternoon. Tax not included. 3 person minimum to conduct workshop. \nWe have basic gear available for rent. Rates are Per Day.\n$10 – Helmet\n$10 – Harness\n$5 – Combo – ATC & Carabiner\n$5 – Gloves \nPAYMENT: We accept Venmo for Course Payment. \nRESERVATIONS: Please call or email to reserve your space.  info@canyoneering.net or 435.826.4714 \nPayments are 100% refundable until 60 days prior to course start date. Cancelations after this date are Non-Refundable and Non-Transferable. \n***We recommend purchasing trip insurance. \nThe weather in Escalante can change quickly whether before the trip or during it. We expect that you come prepared with rain jacket/gear. Cancellation due to bad weather is determined day of the trip. All guests must be present at time of determination. If we determine that the weather would make the trip unsafe\, and therefore cancel\, you will receive a full refund. \n**Please note that the location of ANY trip is subject to change based upon the current weather (precipitation\, temperature etc.) and group. SUMMARY:COURSE / ACA CORE Skills
DESCRIPTION:This two day course will be held at the ACA Headquarters in Escalante Utah. SUMMARY:COURSE / ACA Technical Level 2
DESCRIPTION:This Advanced Level two day course will be held at the ACA Headquarters in Escalante Utah. We will select training areas that will maximize our opportunities to focus on specific anchors\, rescue and leadership skills. Canyoneering students time is spent applying newly learned skills directly in a dynamic slot canyon environment. Participants in these courses should be prepared for two full days of learning\, teamwork….and more learning. \nGoal: The primary objectives of our “Technical 2” course is to help students become a more “sovereign canyoneer”. Not a solo canyoneer\, but a Team member who can competently assess a wider range of technical challenges for themselves and the group. A member who operates with a level of understanding that allows them to begin helping others enjoy a safe and fun experience. We want to work towards maximizing our “canyon presence”\, becoming more and more aware of our natural and human surroundings. As always\, the improvements in personal and overall group safety are worth the time/investment. Remember\, this course WILL NOT prepare you to lead an advanced level canyon such as Imlay Cyn\, Choprock Cyn\, etc. Period. However\, it WILL empower you with the skills and mindset to elevate your game and begin the first steps towards helping others see and experience the beauty and comradery found within the canyon walls. \nACA Philosophy: Take this seriously\, in all training\, in all canyons: Think Yoga….. not American Ninja Warrior.
